Kaori

The rocky terrain soon gave way to water, with only the jagged edges breaking the surface of the streams. The trees that rose above these rivers were altering their colors, the wide of red and orange leaves falling and floating down the stream to settle on the shores of a lake. The wide array of rivers had bridges, some man-made, others were more natural such as a fallen tree or a series of jagged stones. For the native Akito, it was easy to traverse these trails, especially for this one in particular.

High above such silly inconveniences as bridges was Kaori. The mottled shadows spread across her caramel and chocolate coat, giving a sort of camouflage with the trees. The deep crimson tank top she had on fit snugly around her, giving her easy mobility of her arms, while the long shorts kept to her tomboy nature. One arm was slung almost lazily over a branch, her body hanging below with her feet on the trunk of the tree. It was not an awkward position to find this particular feline in, especially since her keen claws gave her an advantage when climbing trees. She almost felt as though she was in her element when among the treetops. Of course, the game here was not to her tastes. She did not favor mountain goats, and would have preferred the chase that another creature would allow; still, there was no room for complaints.

The muscles in her legs tensed slightly before she flung herself through the air, landing in another tree with only the swish of the leaves. The claws from her hand dug themselves into the bark, sending splinters flying in all directions before she halted in the sky. Her goal was in sight. As one of the younger warriors, she was often sent on the simple missions that required very little trouble. There was an easy path through the waters that could have led her to this point; she simply preferred the treetops. Bounding through the air, she'd land on a small patch of ground, surrounded on all sides by water. It was it's own little island in the midst of this wide river. The water was not deep, nor swift enough to carry a hubrone or guardian away with the current, but Kaori felt a certain amount of pride at having made it this far without getting so much as a drop of water on her coat.

Returning in the same fashion would be a bit more difficult. From over her shoulder she pulled down a sack, looking much like a small backpack of a more human era. From inside she retrieved a medium-sized cooler. Once she set everything down, opening the cooler in preparation, she tugged the all but hidden net out of the water. It was simple to use the primitive means of catching fish when no one was around, plus it gave the young warrior something to do when she finished patrolling. Fish, fish, fish... It seemed that all they ever ate these days was fish. Of course, she was not complaining... Okay, so perhaps she was a little bit. Even so, she pulled the net out of the water, the sloshing, slapping sound of the fish as they fought for freedom the only thing disturbing the serenity of the forest.

Soon through the task of fishing, Kaori began a speaking, her voice extremely sing-song in manner. "A pretty fish. A pretty fish. A pretty fish for dinner." The melodic tune was followed by giggles and then perhaps some variant of the little saying. It made the job of putting the fish in the cooler a bit more enjoyable...
